I have curated Swamp Monsters, featuring Vipoo Srivilasa, which opens at the Wyndham Art Gallery on Saturday 31 October, 3pm.
I’ve had so much fun teaming up with Vipoo again for another community-focussed kids’ exhibition. I adore Vipoo’s ceramics and his sense of playful collaboration. As with Marvellous Mythical Mates, Swamp Monsters invites children to treasure their local environment.
In Swamp Monsters, we highlight the Wyndham wetlands and Western Treatment Plant. Kids can make a mask inspired by Vipoo’s ceramics and the local wetland creatures. This is because the best way to care about the swamp is to become one of its beasties!
If you haven’t thought of a Halloween costume yet, why not pop into the Swamp Monsters launch to make a monster mask? Plenty of time to trick or treat afterwards 😈
I am grateful to the Bunurong and Waddawurrung Elders who have cared for Country for thousands of years, and who have ensured the special ecosystems in Wyndham remain some of the most precious in the world.
