I’m in this year’s Emerging Writers’ Festival as a comics artist!

As part of EWF 2025, my fellow Gutter Stars and I are:

• launching an exhibition
• running a couple of comics workshops
• hosting a ‘Speaking to Pictures’ performance, and;
• publishing a comic book!

We were lucky enough to receive funding from Creative Australia to do all of this. Our grant application hinged on the idea of ‘Comics Off the Page’ because our collective, Gutter Stars, is interested in expanded comics practice. We meet monthly-ish to workshop each other’s comics and read academic papers on comics   😳  👉👈.

A big thanks to the talented Ronnie Scott who has shepherded us through this whole process with persistent and unfailing gentleness!

What I’ll be doing…

I’ll have work in the exhibition and will be around to support the workshops.

My ‘off the page’ comic looks at Snapchat as a mode of comics production. As with my other comics, I’ll be thinking about how we go a bit funny when we aren’t being socially calibrated by IRL interaction.
